Black Soldier Flies
Black Soldier Fly Larvae
We also raise black soldier flies. Why? Because the black soldier's larvae break down food waste even faster than red wigglers, and they make the perfect feed for our chickens helping to promote our circular zero-waste process. Black soldier fly larvae are loaded with protein and nutrients, making them a remarkable feeder insect for chickens, lizards, and fish. We sell them live and freeze-dried, by the pound, as pet food.

Black Soldier Fly Larvae Frass
Just like worms, as flies eat their way through food waste we harvest their castings (poop), also known as "frass." As larvae break down the food they release the bound nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium locked within the decaying material and much of this is released into their frass making it a rich organic soil amendment.

HOW WE FEED THESE DECOMPOSERS
